Unpacking, Slowly but Surely

After just a day of being lazy at home, I decided it’s probably time I start unpacking from the move. I woke up around 10 am energized and ready to get moving. First, I should explain that my room at my Dad’s house is too big for my own good. Meaning that when I’m home, it immediately appears as if a sharknado has touched down. For over a year, mind you, I have been trying to clean and tidy up my room. But something always seems to get in the way, whether it’s friends, family gatherings, lack of caring or laziness. It’s most likely a combination of all of those things (lol). Today though, to my own surprise and dismay, I actually made a dent in organizing my room. Cleaning my room will most likely come after I’ve organized it to my own standards.

I have almost filled an entire 42-gallon industrial trash bag with clothes and miscellaneous items for GoodWill. While sorting through the rubbish my closet has collected since my freshman year in college, (yikes!) I found more and more crap that I don’t need! Along with my GoodWill bag, I set aside some shoes and a few articles of clothing that I think is worth trying to sell. I’m crossing my fingers Second Time Around will dish me some mula *rubs hands together*.

Organizing was a majority of what I did, but I also did laundry. Lots and lots of laundry. A couple weeks before I left my apartment in Boston the Washer machine broke, so I figured it made sense to wait to do laundry until I got home. I’m patting myself on the back for waiting because paying $3.00 for one load of laundry is just too much. I did five loads of laundry, including sheets, towels, blankets, and clothes. It took AGES but now everything I own is clean, so it was worth the wait and the savings.

My favorite part of today was my mom let me bring the dogs to my dads! They followed me everywhere the whole day; running up and down three floors of stairs. I made my bed at one point, and it became their new favorite spot in my room. It made me laugh because they matched my duvet! I should have taken a picture of them they looked like they were straight out of an Urban Outfitters catalog.

Interestingly I didn’t check the time until 4 pm. I couldn’t believe how much time had passed! I felt my stomach growling though and knew I’d need some food soon. So after I finished hanging some clothes and waiting for my last load of laundry to finish, I packed up to leave. After grabbing everything I’d need to stay at my mom’s, the pupperonis and I jumped in the car. I needed some type of food to hold me over, so I stopped at McDonald’s for some fries and coffee. Don’t worry I shared the fries with the puppies on the way home (hehe).
